Northwestern vascular surgeon recognized by his peers

William H. Pearce, MD, vascular surgery, recently received the 2011-2012 Pioneers in Performance Award in the category of “Dedication to Sharing Knowledge with Peers and Patients.” This is an annual recognition for physicians demonstrating dedication to advancing therapy and minimally invasive treatment options for patients, sponsored by W. L. Gore & Associates. With this award, Pearce joins a distinguished group of vascular and endovascular physicians recognized for advancing therapy, improving patient and clinical performance and sharing his vast knowledge with peers and patients.

The 2011 nominees were selected by past award recipients in four categories that correspond with different aspects of clinical collaboration. The medical community elected Dr. Pearce through a popular vote on the Pioneers in Performance website, and then honored him at a special reception in New York this month.

Dr. Pearce has served on the editorial boards of six journals dedicated to vascular diseases and has spoken before scientific communities throughout the world. He has published more than 200 peer-reviewed articles, 88 chapters and 19 textbooks.

Congratulations to Dr. Pearce on receiving this prestigious award.
